Going Good, Day 8 down 9 lbs

So last year when I started South Beach in Feb, I was pretty consistant until July, and had lost 25 pounds. Like so many other times in my life, I fell off the wagon, and was making 1/2 attempts to be "eating right". While finding any excuse I could to "eat bad, cause I deserved it!" The result was gaining a lot of weight back, while my hubby was still losing, GO Bear! Anyways to make a long story short, when I started back on South Beach Last week, I was still down 12 pounds from my original weight (Last FEB). Today, I am down 9 pounds, a total of 22 pound from last year. I'm glad I have been able to make up so much of the ground I had lost over the last 6 months. I'm happy to be on this side, excited to continue on the right path, and feeling great to have my pants "BIG" instead of snug! Life is good.

I'm reading "No need for Speed" by John " The Penguin" Bingham. What a great book for those who want to start running. My goal is to run one day!! It will start with a walk/run combination, probably a lot more walking at the begining. He's an incredible author. Really puts things I've been thinking about myself into perspective and it's nice to know I'm not alone. I have to go, but will talk more about his book later.

My team in training kick off is tomorrow!! I'm so excited, a little nervous to meet everyone, but can't wait!

1 LB Down

Finished day 1 of phase 1 southbeach. It went really well. I wasn't hungry and didn't have those horrible afternoon sugar cravings. Honestly, I am in a better mood when I'm eating healtier.

It was nice getting on the WII Fit this morning, not worried about it yelling at me for gaining weight. Obviously, I have a long way to go, but I'm on the road!! Happily, on the road to being healthier, losing weight and getting more active!

Blake's best friend Matthew is back in Texas and I couldn't be happier! He has really missed his friendship the last 3 months. Matthew's coming for the weekend and I haven't seen Blake so excited in a long time. It just shows how important friends are!

We have our first leadership social for Team in Training Saturday. I'm excited to get to know the other mentor's better. I have 3 new team members to call this week!

Weightloss and Finances! The Dreaded Duo!

My struggles in life have definetly been weightloss and finances! I hate them both.

On the weightloss side, I started South Beach phase 1 again today. This program really works, and those carbs that I love oh so much dont' love me. I'm much better NOT eating them. For those of you who have done the program. The first two weeks are rough! NO carbs including fruit! But it works, those sugar bad/carb cravings disappear! Barry and I both did it last year. Initally i lost 25 pounds (have gained about 12 back) Barry has lost close to 40 and kept it off!! He's doing awesome. Me, I give into temptation, and use food ( the good junk, cookies, cakes, basically anything sweet!) to help cure a bad day, to help stuff my grief. I know it doesn't work..so why do i still do it???? Anyways, I'm back on the wagon! I'm excited to be back, eating healthier and being a better roll model for my kiddos. My next season of Team in Training starts in just over 2 weeks. Which will be perfect, phase 1 south beach is the hardest, and i will have just finished the 2 weeks of south beach before my training starts. So, then i can transition to phase two were you eat healthy carbs and begin my new training routine!

On the finance side. I think most of us struggle with credit card debit. Barry and I haven't been on the same page with this. I tend to live the life of "you only live once" mentality and want to spend more then we have, where he is more conservative. I win the arguements often and so we find ourselves in credit card debit again. Not huge, but enough to make you crazy! and in this economy plus the fact we each took a 5% pay decrease...making monthly payments to credit cards just isn't worth it. I recently cut up all my cards! My old navy card was the hardest. I'm posting this, so I have a public record that I am NOT using my cards anymore! Wish me luck! And I'm going to tackle them...smallest to largest.

Team in Training Season 2!

I'm so thrilled and excited to share that I have not only signed up for a second season of Team in Training, but signed up to be part of their leadership team. I will be serving as one of the mentor's for the summer season!

I had my first informational meeting last Thursday, and it was amazing! I really feel such a strong bond towards TNT! It is definetly what I am mean't to be doing. I loved sharing my story about Griffin and how much TNT means to me. I loved meeting the new people.

I can't wait for this season to officially start. I've started getting off my lazy but and walking again. I'll be glad to have that routine back, happy to inspire my teammates, but most importantly be thrilled to raise money for Blood cancers, so that one day, mom's like me won't have to lose their child to cancer!

So Happy it's Jan 5th

So, we made it through another year. I realize it's sad, but I'm thrilled to have Jan 4th over with and that I don't have to deal with it for another 364 days!

The last week has been so difficult for me. I cried and I cried, until I couldn't cry any more, I was moody and irritable. The anticipation of the actual day is definately much worse for me than the actual day.

This weekend, was good. Saturday we knew the weather was going to be wonderful, so we spent the day at the zoo. It was close to 80, the kids playing in the water. We had a great time. Our babysitter Ms. Jennifer came to our house with 75 red helium balloons!! It was amazingly sweet for her to bring so many balloons. It's been our tradition to send red Balloons to Griffin, normally just a few, not 75! But 75! Wow that was so exciting (she made me cry!) We wrote notes to Griff and sent the Balloons to Heaven. Then Barry and I went out to dinner to the Cheesecake factory, it was nice to have time to sit and talk. (Outside, in shortsleeves, in Jan and yes it was 80 degrees) Today we are having ice storms (Texas weather is crazy).

Yesterday, Griffin's Happy Heaven Day, we ate Eggo Waffles for breakfast and watched Griffin's video. It was hard to watch, but I was so glad to hear his voice, gosh I miss him. I wanted to just get it over with (if that makes sense) and get all the crying done.

After the video, we went to the Science Place. We love the science museum. So did Griffin. It was a nice family day.

When we got home, the kids and I made my mom's famous checkerboard cake (my first time ever making it) I ran into a few snags, but it was delicious! And my kitchen is still a mess, i was too tired last night.

All in all, it was a day well spent, remembering my amazing boy. Griff-I love you always and forever.
